My Garden

Gardening for the Physically Challenged

An easy way to garden for anyone who has physical limitations. Very low maintenance, eco-friendly, and a terrific way to carry on your gardening traditions. You just need a small area of patio space, some really good dirt, and recyclable grocery store bags.

We planted these on Memorial Day 2011.

Cucumbers and mixed lettuce and arugula.

Same crop - less than 2 weeks later! Grow baby grow!

My favorite - tomatoes! Early Girl, Jet Star, Roma, and Cherry.

How fast they grow up - they need cages already!

Peppers of every kind!

Great use of an old charcoal grill. Note the garden hose? No bending for this chick!

Yellow squash and zucchini.

BIG leaves, and tiny squash are coming in!

Almost forgot the herbs! Basil - my most versatile herb! I use it in everything. And there's some oregano, cilantro, more basil, and thyme (yes, I have parsley, sage, and rosemary too on the other side of the deck ;)

WEEK THREE:

Cucumber leaves are getting massive!

The pepper plants have little flowers on them already!

The tomatoes are springing up fast - up to the third rung on the baskets almost!

The yellow squash are coming in - going to have squash and pasta tonight.

Zucchini is budding too.

Baby tomatoes on the vine - Early Girl is indeed early. And Roma tomatoes too.
The Jet Star.

WEEK 5

Squash and zucchini...growing every day! We've harvested several yellow squash already, and waiting on one zucchini to get just a little bigger before we pick it.
The photo quality could be better - it was very sunny outside - one zucchini (and more blossoms coming in).

Early Girl tomatoes - about a dozen greens ones on the vines.
More tomatoes coming on the Jet Star...

These Romas make terrific spaghetti sauce! Sorry about all the sunlight....nah...not really...I love sun!
All the tomatoes are well past the third rung on the cages - amazing! And very healthy looking, no bugs, no wilting...and best of all - NO WEEDS!
Yes, we have some bananas (peppers)....
A few plump red hot peppers.
Remember when these pepper plants didn't obscure the inside of the old charcoal grill hood?
Cukes gone wild - lots of blossoms, no cucumber sightings yet....
Can't forget my herbs - everything we cook taste better with fresh herbs.
